Croatia's largest natural lake is located along the coast near Zadar and is a karst depression filled with mildly salty water. There is an educational walking trail and a cycling route of approximately 50 km around the lake. Vrana Lake is known for its diversity of bird species, and fishing is permitted in the lake. Fishing for a variety of fish species is possible: pike (Stuka) from February 1st to March 31st, carp (Šaran) from April 1st to May 31st, and catfish (Som) from April 16th to June 15th. A fishing permit is required.

The northwestern part of the lake lies in a zone of intense flooding and has been designated a special bird reserve due to its diversity. The nature park currently records 235 bird species, of which 102 are breeding birds, while it serves as an important wintering or temporary resting place for others. A total of 75 different bird species, with over 200,000 birds, use Vrana Lake as their wintering grounds, making it one of the most important European wintering areas. As many as 143 migratory bird species from Central and Northern Europe use this area as resting places before continuing their journey. For all of this, Vrana Lake was included in the list of European Important Bird Areas (IBA) in 1983. The biological value of the nature park is enhanced by its wealth of fish species.

The Plitvice Lakes is the oldest and the largest national park in the Republic of Croatia. The exceptional natural beauty of this area has always attracted nature lovers. As a result of that, it was declared the first national park of the Republic of Croatia as early as 8 April 1949. The process of tufa formation, through which tufa barriers and subsequently lakes are formed, is the outstanding universal value for which Plitvice Lakes received international recognition on 26 October 1979, when it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Galešnjak, Croatian Island of Love (Approx. 19km)

Galešnjak is an island off the coast of Croatia.

It lies between the island of Pašman and the city of Turanj on the mainland. Galešnjak is known for its heart-shaped surface. It covers an area of ​​132,000 m². The coastline is 1.55 kilometers long. There are two hills on the island, the highest point being 36 meters above sea level.

Galešnjak is privately owned. It is uninhabited. However, three ancient Illyrian graves and traces of the foundations of a building have been discovered.

The island became known in 2004 when Google Earth launched its online mapping service and was noticed by internet users. Its distinctive heart-shaped shape led to the small island being featured on television, magazines, and numerous websites.
